iPhone64

May 9, 2008 half past ten pm

The Unofficial Apple Weblog mentions that Stuart Carnie mentions that he has a running C64 emulator on the iPhone which means only one thing, that Maniac Mansion on the iPhone is only moments away, and not one of the inferior versions, but the original, and only true version of Maniac Mansion, the C64 version.

All that stuff existed for a long time for my N80, why is that so special that you can have it on a iphone?

I hope you have not become a soulless macXXX Ron ;)

Posted by Ron Gilbert on May 10, 2008 ten to seven am

But I don't own a N80.

Posted by Maroulaki on May 10, 2008 twenty to seven am

I am looking forward to seeing screenshots of this!!

Still, I don't think it 'd be more fascinating than the monkey island on iphone :)

Posted by Marius on May 10, 2008 ten past eight am

Actually, you have ScummVM for the Iphone. You can play most of the old Lucas Arts Adventure games on it.

Screen is a tad too small though.

Posted by Ives Castagnino on May 11, 2008 twenty five past one pm

Like in the World? Well yes, many people.

Posted by Pantufla on May 13, 2008 half past seven am

La mayoría.

Maniac Mansion es por lejos la mejor aventura gráfica, incluso mejor que MI.

Ron, deberías empezar a aprender Español.

Posted by Ives Castagnino on May 13, 2008 five past eight pm

He has enough excuses to delay his work already.

It would be something like perdónanme, boys, yo amaría to work en DeathSpank, pero astoi aprendiendo hablar el castallano.

Posted by Gorba on May 13, 2008 twenty to two pm

I guess you do.
Mas se quiser eu posso falar portugues com o sehor!

Posted by Cyrus on May 11, 2008 five to five am

Sorry for posting it here, but... What kind of graphic style does DeathSpank have: 2D or 3D?

Posted by gorba on May 13, 2008 twenty to two pm

1d!
The game consists of a single line of pixesl.
Progressive scan suported

Posted by Ives Castagnino on May 13, 2008 ten past eight pm

I don't know for sure, but I'll go with text adventure.

Posted by Gastón on May 11, 2008 twenty to eleven am

In no time we will be living inside an iphone.

Posted by Andorxor on May 11, 2008 five past one pm

You simply must run "Little Computer People" with the emulator,to see how such a live would be.

Posted by Aaron on May 11, 2008 quarter past noon

i'm beginning to think that ron's sponsered by apple.

i'm pleased that you're excited though ron, but i'm praying that you don't confirm my suspicions and release 'iSpank'.

Oldest thing I've got is an Atari ST...
Guess iPhone is next, ja?

"the original, and only true version of Maniac Mansion, the C64 version."
thank's God you said that, Pc and nintendo versions of MM quite suck, but C64 version is my favourite game of all times. (yes, more than M.I. series, sorry)

btw: I'm getting tired, I've already waited like.. mhhh..seventeen years (since I first played MM at the age of nine) and now I NEED to know what's on top of the broken stairs. I mean it. Don't make me send you a letter like...you know! And please, don't dare to die before letting the world know the secret of MI and the secret of the stairs or we'll torment you forever in gamers hell.

Posted by gorba on May 13, 2008 quarter to two pm

The of MI is that, while the monkey head is a highway to hell, the Maniac Mansion has a stairway to heaven!

Posted by Murderous_Tree/Cuttroat_Will(ow) on May 12, 2008 half past four am

He's been to Hell already. That's how he knows there are mushrooms.

ScummVM is aviable for Wii too, so you can play MM, MI, etc. on Wii. You only need a SD-Card and the game files.
But at the moment there is only a half-hour-demo homebrew channel, so you have to wait until there is a fullversion to install it as a channel.

ScummVM Wii (Test 2)

I'm gonna so lug out my SX64 to compete on the portable Maniac Mansion 'true' C=64 experience!

Posted by JohnnyW on May 14, 2008 half past five am

Is the C64 version REALLY the "true" edition of MM? If so, I feel I must play it! (I'd always assumed it was the DOS version that was considered best?)

Posted by josetemonode3cabezas on May 14, 2008 ten past one pm

what do you think about this?

Posted by Stuart Carnie on May 27, 2008 quarter to midnight

I've successfully run Maniac Mansion on the iPhone [simulator].  The world, it would seem, is now a happy place.

Cheers,

Stu

There's a version of SCUMM for IPOD/IPHONE... i've played loom, zak, monkeys and Indy and it's really playable.
Yep, surely the C64 version was The Version, but i'm an Amigan :D
