I Forgot...

The Spike TV Video Game Awards were last night and I forgot to care.

Is this because it's a popularity contest or is there something other than that, then?

What is the The Spike TV Video Game Awards?

Could be similar to this...

Worse, really.  It's sort of like all the worst elements of the Oscars, Emmies, and other major awards shows combined with the general cluelessness about video games that most major media outlets are known for.  All presented in a way that would make MTV look bad.

Think about that for a moment.

It would make MTV look bad.

Oh. I thought Spike TV was a Game TV or something, and I didn't have time to check.

So it's like, this, then?

I thought the VGA was on tonight?  In like... an hour. o.o

the SPIKE VGA Video Game Awards is the Frank Zappa's best friend

Posted by Rachel J. Morris on Dec 9, 2007 twenty past seven pm

((sighs)) the winners are presented on paintings on women in skin-tight bodysuits.  Plus ax ads out the ass, Kid Rock singing "I want to [do something] to you like I'm never going to see you again", and "hot girls with cheat codes".

Way to make this gamer chick feel isolated, VGA.

Though I guess it IS on Spike TV.  Though I wouldn't want to see VGA on Lifetime or WE or something. DX

How very unexciting indeed!

After watching the few minutes I could tolerate of that show, I was actually embarassed to be in the industry.

Posted by 7u15mk on Dec 10, 2007 twenty past one pm

it was a big avalanche of sponsors, ads, celebs and more commercial nonsense

Hey! I won't let you talk like that about those awards. Foo Fighters were there. Of course I couldn't care less for the rest

Meh, I was expecting pretty much everything the above posters have described so I didn't bother watching.

They should've had Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation host it.
That would've made it worth watching :)

Oh my god...  Can you IMAGINE Zero Punctuation doing video game awards?  That'd be.... fascinating.

What a load of Carp......I mean Crap (Or perhaps i mean both)

In the video game industry there is no such thing as interactivity any more,
so such scripting is absolutely useless because it is all bascially cut screens etc...

In general your average game is a glorfied 3D version of Ghosts 'n Goblins,
It's fun if you like running, jumping and throwing a spear and axe.

It would take a bit of imagination to come up with a good script and
some balls to be able to publish it, pity the video game industry became
a unic after they sold Sierra.....

Call of Duty 4 and The Orange Box were the other big winners with two awards each and Harmonix rocked the house by taking Studio of the Year as well as Best Rhythm Game and Best Soundtrack for Rock Band.
