I feel this will be a huge let down. We all expect something really really good about his new game, or maybe an old one returning (i am not holding my breath) before it comes down to something as trivial as the day he gets a dog, or goes on holiday...
- The secret of Monkey Island is that there's no secret of Monkey Island.
- Dr. Fred is a real person, currently a working doctor at an hospital near you.
- Bernard now lives in the playboy mansion.
- Ron Gilbert, in fact, likes Halo 3 a lot.
Game designer legend Ron Gilbert creates new IP for Wii® and Xbox360®.
NEW YORK, Jan 08: Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR), one of the world's most recognized brands and a third-party video game publisher, today announced an agreement with game designer legend Ron Gilbert. Gilbert and his newly created development team Gibbon Games will bring a new game into being. Crazy Monkey Kart Revolution® will combine the best of fun racers with the enjoyment of accessible minigames...
Gee, who would have expected
But the "grumpy gamer" logo dosen't seem so grumpy any more!
Hm i get it. You are getting happier and happier about something...
Hm.. I hope its good. But i counting Monkey Island out (Damn Lucas Arts, they don't know a good game when they own one exploiting Star Wars poorly made up scifi background and confusing Indiana Jones with Rambo)
Perhaps a new Freddy Fish adventure game? Those where nice though.
Perhaps you will announce that its all a joke just to see our reaction (and have some laughs?)
Other theories are:
That you are the writer of Diablo III
That tomorrow is the end of days (i wish, this damn essay is KILLING me)
That its your mysterious Birthday (congrats!)
And.. uhh i dunno. New background colour? change the blogs name to "Happy gamer"?
I think that a not-grumpy-any-longer gamer is good news by itself.
You gave us the smile when we were teens in front of your games, I want that smile back in my adulthood.
Fuck the grumpiness.
I do really hope your new game is afoot.
Hey Heres hoping it is a new monkey island game and ron has gotten the rights from lucasarts to make it!
on a side note, we all know how much ron loves the iphone. well you all should go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6a-j53u1YQ watch the video and read the description. a link is provided to the website where you can get a free iphone. lets all help one another out to get one!
"In addition, Hothead Games showed off its upcoming game Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.
The episodic game, a collaborative effort from Hothead Games, Penny Arcade's creators, and adventure game designer Ron Gilbert, will be available for download on PC, Mac, and Linux later this year, with an Xbox Live Arcade version coming in early 2008."
Seriously Pendor, you need to stop reading this. And if you are reading this, please don't let me know, give me the satisfaction of having not mentally ill friends. Thank you. Happy new anus!

I just hope on a good game. No Monkey Island (if LucasArts would be the Publisher), no Maniac Mansion Game. Just a good new idea. I´ll be back this evening... hoping...

Hm.
couting down means, something is coming.
The "Grumpy Gamer" (TM) gettin' happier and happier could mean, that there will be something, that even makes the most grumpiest gamer in the world (which has to be either Ron or me) smile. Or at least makes Ron smile - so it's good news. At least for Ron.
The multilingual countdown could mean, that it will be especially interesting for french, german and english people....I remember that many of the old games had a menu in the beginning where you could choose those three languages, that was their way of localization....mainly, people from spain or italy had a problem these days ;).
So:
Today (or tomorrow) will be the announcement of something that makes a grumpy gamer happy (so maybe a good game, eh?) and will be available in french, german and english.
Maybe this RPG-Stuff....or a new Fish
....or maybe all this is just a damned red herring. :D

It did the same thing for me in the beginning...
But now it works! Bless the holy ones (and zeroes?) who had to sacrifice themself for this to happen. They will forever be remembered deepest down in the cold dark mass, that is my heart.
Monkey Island 5 for Wii!
Everybody would buy it, it fits perfect to the new target group of Wii.
Look at the success of Pirates of the Carbieean, LucasArts!
You can't let die such a great franchise, that every other publisher is be jealous about.

I'm so scared. This is the END of the world as we know it. The future is UPON us. Today will be a day to remember, you will talk about this to your grand children. Oh yes, mark my words. Big time ahead of us.

The project is an adventure melted with Diablo-style RPG. It's an episodic comedy game (smaller little episodes over time).
