London

Apr 21, 2005 quarter to eleven pm

I will be in London for a couple of weeks and thought it might be fun to get together with any MI/2D Adventure/Independent Game fans.  We can sit around and complain about the lack of adventure games on the market today, bemuse the lack of innovation in the industry, deconstruct the literary truth behind the true secret of Monkey Island and, of course, gush all over the artistically brilliant graphics in the newest Zelda (I just can't stop drooling over how realistic it looks).

If anyone is interested, drop me a line and we'll try and set up a time and place.  Given that everything I know about London comes from watching Monty Python on PBS, it's probably best that a local picks the place for the meet-up.

Let's try for the weekend of May 7-8.  Could be fun.

This'd be worth getting to London for, but alas, The Netherlands is not, as they say, London. That said, I'm curious whether you'll be surprised at the lack of people carrying around dead parrots in England.

Too bad it ain't London, Arkansas...

...or is it?!

Sigh, why I am in Cairo and not in Europe right now? Hey, Ron, there is a traditional thing in London. Every morning all londoneers jump into the river and swim acrross. The winner is called Boss of Thames for one day. So, if you want society to accept you ASAP, jump in the river the first day you come there. Its worth it. .) (have someone with camera as well .))

SeanOS,

He was being sarcastic about those graphics. It's probably a slam on all those jerks that came here to his blog to tell him his opinion was shit.

Posted by Dan L on Apr 22, 2005 seven am

I live in London. I'd possibly be able to make it, but it can seem like a lot of effort going back into town at the weekend as well as in the week.

Shan't  be around, BUT if you have the cash and the time, I thoroughly recommend the oxo tower restaurant. its the best reaturant in London (and there are LOTS), and its right close to the Tate Modern art gallery overlooking the south bank of the thames.

And what is the true secret of Monkey Island?!

Posted by TYK on Apr 22, 2005 half past six pm

And when will you come to Spain?

Posted by SeanOS on Apr 23, 2005 quarter to four am

Yeah ... confused me fairly well ... - also being at work at that time and attempting to type understandably (for myself and others) did not help.

Posted by Kenn on Apr 23, 2005 twenty five to two pm

I figured out what the secret of Monkey Island is... it's an island that has monkeys on. damn should have figured it out sooner... ;)

' It's probably a slam on all those jerks that came here to his blog to tell him his opinion was shit."

if he didnt want to get slammed on, he wouldent have a blog.

as for london, good luck crossing the street.

Posted by monkey_05_06 on Apr 24, 2005 five to seven pm

OH MAH GAH.  How much do you think it would cost to rent a hotel in London for a weekend for a 17 year old American?  I would never ask anyone for anything ever again if I could go...That would be the undisputable best thing that could ever possibly happen...But, the chance of getting on a flight to London probably isn't to great...(My dad works for the airport so I fly for free, but that's only if there's a seat open on the plane...)

Pointlessly hopeful,

Posted by Bacon on Apr 25, 2005 ten past four am

you could try this

Posted by Yufster on Apr 25, 2005 twenty five past five am

Well I'm definitely heading over.

We should go sit in a park somewhere with a couple jars of Gherkins. I am not joking. I heard you guys have really tame squirrels. I love Squirrels. And then we can find Nick Rhodes house and break in to it. I'm really excited. I can't wait to break in to Nick Rhodes house.

Posted by The Tingler on Apr 25, 2005 twenty to eight am

What, so YOUR squirrels leap at you and tear your throat out if you pass them?

Posted by Hullabaloo on Apr 25, 2005 quarter past one pm

Speaking on behalf of squirrels in the Pacific Northwest, yes. Yes they do.

Posted by ^spyn on Apr 25, 2005 five to nine pm

Nothing a golf club can't fix ;)

Posted by The Tingler on Apr 25, 2005 twenty to eight am

Pity I'm not in London, nearer Manchester.

As no one's asked this I think I will: what are you coming over here for, man?

Posted by magintz on Apr 25, 2005 ten to ten am

awesome-o can't hardly wait

Posted by magintz on May 3, 2005 five am

Ummm, so what's happening. What time does everyone want to meet? I'm not sure where is going to be easy for everyone. I personally wouldn;t mind meeting somewhere around lunch and maybe going for a beer or something.
