Thanks to everyone for coming!!!

It was great ! I really hope to see you again. =)

The meet-up was really fun. It's an incredible pleasure to do some bad tricks to Clayton on Mario kart :p

Posted by Rodi on Mar 5, 2006 quarter to two am

Looks like it was fun! All those DSes, man, back in our day we had to do things with just some alcoholic beverages and a naked guy in a rope for entertainment! Youngsters nowadays with all their technological doodads and their Dan Fogelberg...

or vienna, come to vienna, austria, that would rock!

Posted by Nordine on Mar 5, 2006 twenty to four am

Thank you very much for coming and share your sympathy.
I hope that the same type of meeting will renews itself, it was a very funny and precious moment. :)

In addition, i have wrote a little report (in french), with some commented photographs inside. If you are interested, go to this way, at the end of the page: http://www.push-start.com/bb/viewtopic.php?pid=2033#p2033

And thanks for Nordine and Lama for setting this up !

Great day, great food, and great Wine ('wine', Nordine, not 'vine'... :))

Posted by Tankko on Mar 5, 2006 five past six am

And thanks for Nordine and Lama for setting this up !

I thought ron set this up like he did in London and Amsterdam?

Posted by LordSeb on Mar 7, 2006 five past eight am

Yes, it was his idea, of course.
But Nordine and Lama helped to coordinate the meeting in Paris by contacting other gaming forums, choosing the restaurant, telling folks to bring their DSes... :)

By the way, who was that beautiful blond-haired girl who joined us ?

I win the "snobbiest order"-prize of this event : foie gras. Just in case ducks and geese were to be wiped out from Europe this year :/ But also because I felt like it was Christmas :)

I put my pictures online http://www.gaming-side.com/mx981/?gallery=Video%20Games/GrumpyGamer%20Meetup

I also create an archive with my pictures in higher def : http://www.gaming-side.com/lama/files/GrumpyGamer.zip

@Ron > Can you send me your picture in hi-def ? or put them online somewhere like flickr ?

Posted by Erik on Mar 6, 2006 quarter past eight am

Nice ones, merci Lama. We should really have a common gallery altogether, including Ron's pictures posted above in high definition if possible, especially the group photo.
I'm waiting for the creation of an archive file including the video to contribute.

Hey, just wanted to say it was an honor meeting you and Clayton, thanks for coming and putting up with us slavering fans and all our questions.  I was the american girl who arrived late (damn you RER A!).

Also thanks to those who helped organize.  It was cool meeting everyone.

Omg, Ron Gilbert, I thought you had been dead for... I don't know.. I just remember some European gamer's magazine pointing out your demise. Anyway, wow... you're still alive, and that rocks! Your games have been an inspiration to me throughout my  life, and I am passing this gift on to my own children.
I force them to play your adventures on a daily basis, just to give them the properly grim outlook on life -  they need to get by!

Ok, I don't have children, and something tells me it's better this way...

Anywho, glad to see that you're still among the living.

P.S. I can't really recall when I read the magazine article, but it must have been sometime in the mid 90's, and it was featured in "Bestseller Games".

So, attendees, did you get Ron drunk and make him spill details of his current game projects (the "comedy adventure RPG"). If so, do tell. If not, I hate you all.

Posted by Erik on Mar 10, 2006 four pm

As best as I can remember and gather, he said the goal of this trip was to meet with french publishers in order to raise funds for their project whose Clayton is the artistic director...
Ron insisted on the fact that 2D will have a larger part than 3D in it, albeit the game features both techniques.

Posted by user_name on Mar 12, 2006 ten past four pm

hmm, sounds intriguing. 2D in this day and age...

Hey, Ron! Will you ever come to munich?
My Dad let me play all your adventures, with which he wasted his youth. And I´m really thankful :D

Posted by Ian Hamilton on Mar 13, 2006 five to five am

Thanks for the interview, it was really helpful! i'll get it typed up and mailed over to you ASAP, do you mind if I stick it up online?

Cheers again!

Ian
