Win a Free Copy of DeathSpank on XBLA!!!
Making games is hard, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Long hours deep in the game mines, chiseling nuggets of game design from crusty black walls, sucking in death at every breath. And who does this dangerous work? Games designers like myself? Don't be crazy, we get children and puppies to do that part. I work out of a nice air-conditioned office with an espresso machine.
But in the end, it's not about who lived or died to bring you an awesome game like DeathSpank, so let's not trifle over small details like "laws" and "morality" because much like that delicious tofu you're eating, you don't really want to know where it came from.
Instead, let's enjoy a massive DeathSpank review round-up:
CONTEST CLOSED
I know what you're thinking: "Damn, I really want to play DeathSpank, but I need to feed my family". Now, I know how I'd choose (and I won't judge), but I might have a solution to your recession woes, and that's a free copy of DeathSpank for XBLA.
Scour the above reviews and find the following quotes:
- "...gorgeous fairytale landscape seems to sprawl out forever..."
- "En DeathSpank seremos un justiciero de idéntico nombre embarcado..."
- "The land of... I'm not sure, it has a name, but the main town is called Pluckmuckel..."
- "But like great satire it works both as an amusing commentary and as the subject of that commentary."
Drop me a line HERE and tell we where they came from.
- Please use a real email address or I can't send you a code if you won.
- No cheating, this isn't college.
- Don't post answers in the comments.
- Don't forget to declare it on your taxes.
I will randomly choose one winner from all correct entries sometime tomorrow and post it here.

Congratulations with a fantastic game :)
I also, like Manny want a Linux-version (and I would happily buy it once or twice more times just for that), since HotHead used to do that, but I understand that it's asking a lot.

I did want to ask though, is there anything you could say about whether or not there will be any future episodes of Deathspank? Given that the project started as episodic and you seemed very positive about episodic content it did seem to get dropped quite late in development and but the game is left very much open for expansion.

However, SIR: All three of my (youngish) children asked to play DeathSpank with me today, which is quite unprecedented.
Last night, they all played it with me in co-op mode, sharing the controller amongst themselves -- it's almost as if the feature was added with them in mind! (Well, that and the poop jokes.)
It turns out that whilst it might not necessarily satisfy the hard-core gamers of this earth who demand online features and character progression (as I've seen in a few reviews), it's an ideal mode for those who want to play along and feel useful whilst doing so. It was quite unlike the Lego games that, whilst very good, often lead to argument, frustration and controller-hogging. We all had a great time playing together, and the experience felt genuinely special.
For these reasons alone, I thank and salute you, and everyone in the team that made the game possible. That it's a highly fun and entertaining game into the bargain is just ambrosia and gravy through and through.
Please pass on my regards. Cheers!

As a long time fan of your awesome 'point and click' graphic adventures and an avid reader of the blog, I awaited DeathSpank with baited breath.
I have to say that I was a tad worried this game wouldn't live up to your previous greatness... I've become used to being let down hugely by projects which I awaited to rekindle the 'original magic'
coughthe Star Wars prequels - ahem. And, although DeathSpank is about as far removed as possible from say, 'The Secret of Monkey Island' in terms of genre, I found that the humour, playability and overall feel of the game made me feel right at home as soon as I picked up my mouse - er - I mean Dual Shock controller!A breath of fresh air in a gaming world over populated by FPSs. Awesome!
