Linking Policy

Aug 20, 2004 twenty five past ten pm

Many of the top sites on the web, like FastCompany, American Express, New York Stock Exchange and even the Olympics now have linking policies.  Grumpy Gamer recognizes a bandwagon to be jumped on, and has instituted a linking policy.

If you operate a website on the internet or know someone that does, please read this carefully:

Grumpy Gamer Linking Policy

All websites on the internet are now required to link to the Grumpy Gamer website.  If your website wishes not to link to the Grumpy Gamer website, please send a written request, informing Grumpy Gamer that you do not wish to link to the website.  You are required to link to the website until you have received confirmation that your request to not link has been received and the request has been accepted.  If we accept your request to not link to the Grumpy Gamer website, we will notify you in writing.  If you do not hear from Grumpy Gamer, you are required by the terms of this agreement to maintain a link to our website.

All links to the Grumpy Gamer website must include the words Grumpy Gamer, proceeded by, or followed by some glowing remark about the website.    These glowing remarks may include words like, but not limited to: Genius, Remarkable, Funny, Insightful, Well-Written or Visionary.

All written requests must be sent to:

Ron, what have you drunk last night???
.......Hmmmm......10 gallons of Grog? ;)

I agree with you, Ron.  That's a perfectly fair thing to do.  Why do the big websites get all the breaks?  I find Grumpy Gamer, in all its remarkably genious insightful funny well-written glory, much more interresting than the olympics.

Except maybe the women's gymnastics. . .

"Woman's" gymnastics? wow, it should really be "girl's gymnastics,"seeing as the gold medal winner is 16...Now, woman's beach volleyball....

I don't want to get sued by the Grumpy Gamer !
So i've hurried up and linked your blog from mine (http://blog.odedsharon.com).

Well, I'm not one to stir up trouble or "rock the boat", so to speak.  I have therefore fully complied with your policy which, I must say, is an absolute work of brilliance.  Pure genious.

Similarly, I have decided to institute a policy whereby all sites on the internet must link to mine (http://www.digitaldownpour.com).  Said links must be preceeded or followed by at least 1 (one) small pornographic image(s) of 3 (three) headed monkies.  Upon obtaining my written approval, dancing baloney may be used in lieu of the aforementioned pornographic image(s).

Thank you for your understanding.

Wow, that was wonderfully therapeutic!

I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just that my website www.mimovie.tk (plug!) hasn't been updated in about a year, and I'm not about to go through Yahoo! Geocities crap just to link to this awsome site. It's not as if people visit mine anyway, it's totally irrelevent to anything on Gods Green Earth.

Point please?

This is because they don't want to be Google-bombed or whatever, right?  That thing where if you're George W. Bush, then searching for "the dumbest man on Earth" turns up a picture of you for whatever arcane reasons.
What I want to know is why I, a lowly Canadian, can't view pages on the Showtime website.  I mean, using a proxy would probably work around that easily, but still, I'm lazy.
