Does anyone really care about the Olympics?

Aug 14, 2004 twenty five to six pm

According to the official Olympic Games Athens 2004 web site, you must follow these silly guide lines if you want to link to a Olympic Games page like this or this or even this.

When will people get a clue about the web.

I guess I'll probably get a nasty letter... god knows putting up these links is going the cause them irreparable harm.

No.

...No one really cares about the Olympics.

I think Pierre de Coubertain did. But he was a naive, surpressed, mediocre Victorian mind and then he died. Long live cynicism.

Next question!

I know my letter's in the post.  I think it's so the links don't become embroiled in a drugs scandal.

Well Herr Gilbert,

It seems some of us are under zee impression that zere is a certain freedom of information present on the 'net.  I will have to report your insubordination to my superiors, we will have to keep an eye on you.

Sincerely Yours,

I care about the Olympics. A little. I guess.

Some sports guys dad also got in trouble for writing his son's name on the cycle track for one of the events, something that's commonly done in the tour de france. The Greeks are taking some aspects a little too seriously. But then they invented the Olympics, so they can do whatever they like.

Also: wot is teh secrit!?1//1////

You know what would be totally awesome? If you could edit all the Tell me the Secret of MI, Ron and I will have your children!!!!!1@! inquiries to show up in some easily-dismissible font, like lavender, 25pt Impact italic.

What gets me is that for the first time in years, Irish TV has been showing the Young Indy Chronicles... and now it's cancelled for the OLYMPICS for the next two weeks. They've cancelled all these shows that people watch, and replaced it with a bunch of mediocre sporting events that nobody watches.

One MORE thing. I thought the greeks banned games a year or so ago ;)

Posted by Deda Krueger on Aug 16, 2004 five to six am

I believe the "sportsmen" and the sponsors care about the olympic games.
Also quite a few of the greek people, they should.
Seeing parts of the starting ceremony where more old man "official" step by then athlets and countries where the goverments hate each other like north/south korea walk together as if they had no border could make one sick.

Ciao,
Deda

My parents watch the Olympics.

They're old.

And they have an air conditioner.

I hate the Olympics. They're so boring and overrated and overrated and boring at the same time.  Everyone's always saying 'Oh yur, Australians loove shport'. WELL THIS ONE BLUDDY WELL DOESN'T!! National stereotyping! I write novels! I don't live on a farm! I don't have a pet kangaroo! And I don't like sport!
