I run Windows XP at work, and some days Outlook (I think) will display a series of cute little balloons which basically say "oops, I lost contact with the Exchange server... no, it's up again... down again... up again". And on those rare occasions when the mail server really goes down for a few hours? Not a single warning. Go figure.
